Municipal Museum of Villajoyosa

The research project “Iberian Villajoyosa: Territory, Sanctuary and Frontiers” has brought together a number of French and Spanish scientific institutions. The aim of the project is to study two important Iberian settlements in the Villajoyosa Municipal area and to relate them to their geographic surroundings.

The professions, knowledge, techniques and traditional objects of the sea changed suddenly around 1920, after three thousand years. Unless action is taken this heritage will be lost over the next few years. You can help to prevent this!

By contributing information and objects you could help conserve and recreate the history of Villajoyosa.

The museum and the Municipal Service carry out surveys and archaeological excavations on Municipal owned land.

The ANSER Project (Ancient Mediterranean Maritime Routes) began in 2001 as part of the Interreg IIIB MEDOCC programme, funded by the FEDER (European Regional Development Fund) of the European Union.
