GUIDED CULTURAL TOURS: The best way to learn about the heritage of Villajoyosa.

The Municipal Service of Guided Cultural Tours was established in 1998 with the aim to introduce visitors as well as local people to the extraordinary cultural heritage of this town and its municipal area. Using underlying principles of Heritage Interpretation methodology, the guided visits are carried out by specialised personnel whose professional development and orientation are the responsibility of the museum. Therefore a "quality experience" has been created, supported by a high level of public satisfaction and by increasing numbers of visitors.

The Service carries out guided visits for organized groups (from school trips to groups of OAPs) and for pre-arranged private individuals. These guided visits take place each morning, Monday to Friday and on the first Sunday of the month.

 

Example of a Guided Visit to the Museum

The principal landmarks visited in the tours are the Municipal Museum, the Old Town, the Chocolate Museum and will also soon include the Museum of La Barbera. Other sites of interest can also be visited such as the Iberian and Roman monuments, the coastal Renaissance watchtowers, the modern town or other contemporary heritage sites etc…. Thematic tours can also be carried out which link together a number of the above elements: Roman Vila Joiosa, Iberian Vila Joiosa, the Pirates tour, the Chocolate Industry tour etc.. The price per person is 3.01 €, and a reduced rate of 1.20 € per person for groups of students or pensioners.
